The routine of copying names and addresses into a new notebook, practically used as a phone book, turns into scrutinising his own life and temporary surrounding. The book is composed of stories, memories, poetic elations, essays which all merge into one romanesque story telling us that every man is unique and that the joy of life is inexhaustible.

“..... I seemed to understand the futility of my sufferings. Not that they were only mine. For as long as we are waiting for people to become better than they can be our rooms will be echoing with sighs....”
